A CHILD DROWNS
ROBERT KOYK VICTIM OF TRAGIC ACCIDENT
Funeral services and burial were held here Wednesday morning for Robert Koyk, age 2 1/2, whose death by accidental drowning in Congress last Sunday afternoon shocked and grieved that community.
The little boy, making his home with his great-aunt, Mrs Sam Doom and Mr Doom, drowned in a rain barrel while at play in the yard of the Doom home. He had apparently climbed up the side of the metal barrel with a tin cup to dip water out of the half-filled barrel and lost his balance when halfway in. When found, he was hanging downward, his head and part of his shoulders submerged in the water.
Mrs Doom removed the child and called Wickenburg. Lester Missall of the Bralliar Clinic, accompanied by Mrs Missall and Russell Quinn drove hurriedly to Congress with the clinic's resuscitator but were unable to revive him.
Robert and his 15-months old sister, Charlotte, had been making their home with the Dooms since Christmas. He was the grandson of Mrs Nell Hicks of Phx and the great-grandson of Mrs Rose Deck of Wickenburg.
