The Wickenburg Sun Wednesday, December 22, 1993 Yarnell Couple Dies In Head-On Collision (Junior and Bess Armstrong) A head-on collision early Monday afternoon on Highway 95 claimed the lives of an elderly Yarnell couple. A vehicle carrying Junior and Bess Armstrong and two other residents of Yarnell was heading toward Interstate 40 coming from Laughlin. Jose and Josephine Sepulveda of Trona, CA, were traveling north when the two passenger cars met near the North Shores RV Resort about half a mile north of the interstate. The Armstrongs, who were not wearing seatbelts, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Edgar Stewart, was air lifted from the accident scene to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. His wife, Doris, was taken to Needles Desert Communities Hospital and later transferred to the same Las Vegas medical facility as her husband. Neither of the Stewarts were using their seatbelts. The Sepulvedas were taken to the Needles hospital and later transferred to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. They were wearing seatbelts. The accident is under investigation by the San Bernadino County Sheriff's Department and the sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team.
