BROWN, Arthur
Arthur Earl Brown of Salome died Nov. 29, 1993, in Salome. He was 73. Mr. Brown was born March 2, 1920, in Salome and had lived there all his life except for four years. He graduated from Parker High School. He served in the Army from Dec. 3, 1942, to Oct. 18, 1945, reaching the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was active in civic affairs, was a member of the VFW, the Lions Club and carried a lifetime Arizona Public Service Retiree Association card. Mr. Brown was present during the APS pioneering efforts in Salome's early days. He joined APS as a lineman in 1947, APS' inaugural year in the Salome area. He supervised and assisted large crews in outlying areas, and some of the old light posts in Salome still carry his signature. Br. Brown enjoyed hunting, camping and going to the desert for steak frys and picnics. He is survived by a brother, Hayden S. Brown of Salome; sisters, Annie Campbell, of Salome, and Nellie Simcox of Youngtown; four nieces; and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flavius Josephis and Susie Elizabeth Brown. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 3, 1993, at 2 p.m. at the Brown Family Cemetery, located two miles south of Highway 60 on Buckeye Road in Salome. The Rev. Kevin Owsley will officiate. Frey Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
