CHURCHILL, Lew
Lew C. Churchill died Dec. 23, 1993, at his home in Wickenburg. He was 78. Mr. Churchill was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Detroit, Michigan, and was self-employed as a general contractor. He had lived in Wickenburg for 27 years.
Mr. Churchill had served in World War II as a lieutenant in the Navy, Asiatic Pacific from Jan. 18, 1943, to Nov. 14, 1945. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Wickenburg and the American Legion. He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed family life. Mr. Churchill graduated from high school in Birmingham, Mich. He owned and operated several prosperous businesses.
Mr. Churchill is survived by his wife, Willow Churchill, of Wickenburg. They were married on July 10, 1965. Other survivors include daughter Colleen V. Sheppard-Spears of Santa Clarita, Calif.; sons, David Churchill of Des Moines, Iowa, David Sheppard of Castle Hot Springs, AZ, Brian Sheppard of Cave Creek, and Pete Sheppard of Wickenburg; brother, Frank Allen of North Carolina; and five grandchildren.
There will be private family cremation services and public services at a later date. Contributions may be made to a charity of ones own choice. Wickenburg Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Correction: Two weeks ago (December 1993), the Wickenburg Sun published an incorrect birth date for Lew C. Churchill, who died December 23. Mr. Churchill’s actual birth date was October 28, 1915 – not 1917, as published.
His age, 78, was correct.
