DE VRIES, Selena
Selena I. (Mrs. Fred) De Vries, a resident of the Bishop Drumm Nursing Center in Johnson, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1993, at the age of 84. She was born on July 12, 1909 in Knoxville, Iowa. On Sept. 5, 1931 she married Fred G. DeVries in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived most of her life in Sully, where she was a member of the Sully Community Church Ladies Aid Society, the Missionary Society and the Sully Apres Midi Club. Following her husband's retirement in 1970, the De Vries spent the next 13 winters at Country Club Park in Wickenburg. During that time, they attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. DeVries is survived by her husband, Fred, of the McAuley Terrace Retirement Center in Johnston; four sons and their wifes: Robert and Carolyn De Vries of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ted and Ruth De Vries of Wickenburg, Fredrick and Arlene DeVries and Carroll and Chantry De Vries, all of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
