AMES, Ernest O.

Ernest O. Ames, 67 yrs. of Buckeye passed away June 8, 2003. Ernest was born Sept. 3, 1935 in Phoenix to parents Ramona & Earnest Ames. The family had moved to Buckeye in 1942 & Ernie had attended schools in Buckeye & graduated from Buckeye High in 1954. He later had served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea. Upon his return to AZ. he had worked for R.B. Duncan, AZ. Highway Dept, and the Agua Fria High School. He worked for S.R.P. at the generating plant in Glendale until his returement in 1991. Ernie loved the desert and liked to camp out and do some hunting. He is survived by his wife Zelpha, daughter Terri Smith of Goodyear & son Brian E. of Avondale. One sister Joann Galbriath of Cedar Rapids, Iowa & grandson Johnny Smith Jr. There will be a visitation on Tues. evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Buckeye Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wed. at 10:00 am at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park, Buckeye. Published in The Arizona Republic on 6/10/2003.
