DOANE, Arthur Maxwell


Arthur Maxwell Doane, 73, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away - May 1, 2003 after a long illness. He was born in Rupert, Idaho to Chauncy and Sadie Doane. A veteran of the Korean War, he graduated from ASU in 1961. A school teacher, he taught American Government for 31 years at Mesa High School, retiring in 1992. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, he served as Bishop of the Mesa 8th and 54th Wards. He and wife Daphne served as fulltime missionaries in the Kenya Nairobi Mission from 1997-1999. He is survived by his wife Daphne; sons Glenn Doane and Charles (Karen) Doane, Linn (Diana) Doane, daughters Debbie (Spence) Arnett, Cindy (Kent) Kleiner, 16 grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be Monday, May 5, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E. Main St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, at the Signal Butte 2nd Ward on Signal Butte, south of Broadway. Published in the Arizona Republic on 5/4/2003.
