ANDERSON, Esther Marion


Esther Marion Anderson, 96, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Esther was born on Oct. 17, 1906 in North Dakota. She grew up in Minnesota the oldest of 7 siblings. Esther graduated from Bemidji Teachers College, after graduation she taught school in MN. She later met and married George Anderson who preceded Esther in death in 1964. She is survived by her two sons, Keith and Loren; daughters-in-law, Nancy and Joanne; 3 grandchildren, Mark, Brian and Kiersten; and 2 great-grandchildren, Paige and Brook. During WWII Esther worked for the Defense Dept. building Boeing B29 bombers. These workers were referred to as "Rosie the Riveter." George and Esther owned a grocery store in Roseburg, OR. They moved to Mesa, AZ in 1959. Esther worked in the Mesa school cafeterias for 15 years until her retirement. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was the volunteer librarian for over 30 years. Services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 10:00 A.M., First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 142 N. Date St., Mesa, AZ. Published in The Arizona Republic on 6/11/2003.
