Thea Westover Despain, 94, our precious loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away on Monday morning, April 2, 2001 at her home in Granite, Utah. Thea was born March 8, 1907, in Joseph City, Navajo County, Arizona to Edwin S. and Emma Ethel Porter Westover.
She married S. Elmo Despain in the Salt Lake Temple June 30, 1927. Thea was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother; she served a mission in England along side her husband; a dedicated temple worker; had numerous church callings, all of which she did diligently and enthusiastically. She loved springtime, gardening, crocheting, quilting but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her five children; two sons, Sheron E. (Genevieve) Despain, L. Weston (Charlene) Despain; three daughters, Edwina (Warren) Archer, LuJean (Stanley) Morgan, Ardeen (Ronald) Simmons; 28 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister Verle Holt, one sister-in-law Elaine Westover, and one brother-in-law Joseph Despain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter and son-in-law Norma and Keith Hansen, her sister, two brothers and her sister-in-law, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Granite LDS Ward Bldg., 9550 South 3100 East, Sandy, Utah.
Viewing will be held Wednesday 6-8 at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd., and one hour prior to the funeral at the Granite Ward Bldg.
