PETROWSKI,
Sophie Pauline
(Maiden Name: Czajkowski)
Sophie Pauline Petrowski, 86, passed away Monday, June 9, 2003, at Chandler Healthcare Center after a long illness.
Sophie was born January 25, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York to Frank and Frances Czajkowski. Sophie married Carl Petrowski in 1937, and they lived in Brooklyn, Hollis, and Massapequa Park before moving to Southold, New York where they raised their two children, Larry and Cyndy.
Carl and Sophie retired to Arizona in 1979 to be near their children and grandchildren, and they resided in Sun Lakes at the time of her death. Sophie's happiest moments were spent with her family in her home, especially at the holidays, when, for many years, everyone gathered on Christmas Eve to share a traditional Polish meal that always began with the breaking of the "oplatek" and the sharing of best wishes for a healthy and prosperous year.
Although her family is comforted in knowing that Sophie's long illness is over and she is at peace and reunited with her cherished sister, Mae, and her parents, they will miss her and the many good times they all spent together.
Sophie is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Carl; son Larry (Paula); daughter Cyndy; brother, Philip (Teresa); and grandchildren, Lindsay Jensen (Kenny), Nicholas Kieffer, and Lauren and Grant Petrowski.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Steven Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd, Sun Lakes at 11am, Thurs, June 12, 2003. In lieu of flowers, family asks that contributions in Sophie's name be sent to the American Diabetes Assoc, 8125 N. 23 Ave, Ste 222, Phx, AZ, 85021.
