He was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on October 31, 1920 to Wm. J. & Grace L. (Dawson Reynolds) Morrissey. He attended New Bedford Grade Schools and graduated from the New York Military Academy in Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, New York. He was a member of his family business the Dawson Brewery. He was also an active member with the Scottsdale Elks #2148 and the Moose Lodge #2072. His loving wife Nancy survives John.
