Clemente "Clay" D. Lucero of Wickenburg died Oct. 8, 1993, at Wickenburg Community Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Lucero was born Nov. 23, 1916 in Signal, Arizona, and had lived in Arizona all his life. He was a long-time resident of Parker, where he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years. Upon retiring from the railroad, he moved to Bouse, where he lived for 12 years. He has lived the past three years in Wickenburg. He was known as "Old Spike" and was an avid gardener. Mr. Lucero met Virginia Lopez in 1934, and they were married Feb. 9, 1935, and she survives. Other survivors include son Richard Lucero of Riverside, Calif.; daughters Clementina Anderson and Margie Morales, both of Wickenburg, and Juanita Carey of Tucson; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Helen Valenzula of Los Angeles, Calif., and Katie Mitchum of Indio, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in Death by son Abraham "Abie" Lucero in 1983. Services have been held, with Pastor Robert Goldenberg officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Maricopa Division, 1445 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, 85014. Wickenburg Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
