Canadian Sentenced for Local Murder - Body was found at River Preserve in 1991.
It took more than two years, but Evelyn Warner finally saw the murderer of her son served his sentence last week. Canadian national Perry Matthew Taylor was sentenced as the murderer of a young man whose body was dumped in the Wickenburg area in January, 1991. Wendell Wayne Warner, 29, of Venice, Calif., had been visiting Phoenix and was strangled after leaving a bar in Phoenix. His killer and a group of accomplices, attempting to hide the body, left Warner on the Nature Conservancy Hassayampa River Preserve, where he was found on Feb. 3, 1991. Evelyn Warner and another son, Huston Warner, 28, drove from San Antonio, Texas, to see justice served. Grandfather Dave Gathercole of Dallas accompanied them.
