Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, February 25, 1949 PIONEER CALLED PRESCOTT FUNERAL FOR JOHN BOYER OF AGUILA Aguila-- The death of John S. Boyer at his residence here February 19 is mourned by all citizens of this vicinity where he had lived since 1943. Mr Boyer was engaged in the cattle business here. He was 60 years of age and was a native of Arizona, having been born at Cherry, in Yavapai County, on May 3, 1888. Mr Boyer was the son of pioneers who came to the Verde Valley in covered wagons. He married Miss Emma Powell, also a memeber of a pioneer Cherry family, in 1907. The widow survives, as well as three sons, T. E. Boyer, a deputy sheriff of Yavapai county residing in Prescott, and John and Edward Boyer, both of Aguila. The remains were taken to the Wickenburg Mortuary and later to Prescott where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 23. He was buried beside his parents in the family lot.
