Barbara Walsh Wilkins was born May 11, 1927 in Peterborough, NH. She attended Lasell Junior College in Auburndale, Mass., and started her career as a travel writer for the Christian Science Monitor. She was an avid bird watcher and photographer, played the piano, enjoyed reading, cooking, politics, hiking, bike riding and skiing.
Barbara was an intrepid traveler.
She visited Spain several times, traveled to London, St Martin/St Maarten, Yucatan, Trinidad and Tobago, Indonesia and most of North America. In 1994 she lived in Uganda as a volunteer for the Christian Children's Fund.
Barbara died on Jan 16 after a long illness.
She is survived by her two daughters Susanne Walsh of Wickenburg, Ariz.; and Martha Schaefer of Temple, NH; and two granddaughters Alexandra Schaefer and Hannah Schaefer, both of California.
Her husband Richard Walsh and her son Duncan Walsh predeceased her.
A celebration of her life is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.
