Hank Gale Goes On Ahead Leaves His Burros
Leaving word that he was "going on ahead," Hank Gale, pioneer, prospector, and typical desert road runner passed out into the silence at his camp along the Hassayampa some time last week, his body being found when two youngsters followed Hank's faithful burros into a clump of alders where he had made his last camp.
Hank was a true desert character, and often scribbled his secret thoughts into an old scrap book, found among his effects. Among these, the following has its own significance in view of the old man's sudden death:
"I am going ahead.....someday.....into the silence that broods in the great beyond, over the mountains of mystery, into the world of mist, stardust I'll kick with my dusty boots, and heaven I'll bump with my uncombed head. Nobody knows where I'm going, and nobody knows when I'm coming there. When everything else has been laid aside, .....I'm going ahead."
The body was taken care of by the local constabulary, everything else having been, temporarily, laid aside.
