Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona - August 14, 1953 YOUNG GRANDSON OF WITTMANN COUPLE IS KILLED BY PET BEAR According to a Flagstaff dispatch appearing in the Wednesday issue of the Arizona Republic, a pet bear owned by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew A. Palmer of Wittmann, clawed to death their 3 year-old grandson. Andrew Mark Palmer, Jr. at Pine Springs Camp last Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Palmer, known to SUN readers as Mrs. Violet Palmer, has been this newspaper’s correspondent in the Wittmann area for many years. The Wittmann Palmers had taken the bear, which they raised from a cub, to the camp when they went there to spend the summer with their son and family.
