Raymond Trestrail (Cuzzy), age 80, Of Cottonwood AZ. passed away January 6, 2010. Raymond, or better known to friends as "Cuzzy," was born in Bisbee, AZ. on Oct. 7, 1929
He was raised by his parents, Richard and Jessie Trestrail, who came from Cornwall and Lands End, England. Cuzzy was the youngest of five siblings.
He was drafted into the Army in January 1951. He fought in the Korean War for almost two years. He was an PFC infantry radio operator. He was honorably discharged in October 1952 and returned to Bisbee to continue working for Phelps Dodge Corp. (PD).
He met Georgia Ward. They eloped to Deming, N.M., and got married. He worked for Phelps Dodge for 38 yrs, (28 years in Bisbee and 10 years in Playas, N.M.) They retired in Cottonwood, AZ., in 1985, where he worked for Cottonwood Village retirement estate as a security guard. He also worked for Verde train tours, as a locomotive operator and was a manager for the Super Storage of Cottonwood.
Cuzzy loved to play hardball, softball, football and basketball. He enjoyed going hiking and fishing with Tim & Christie, hunting with Tim, and enjoyed woodcarving with daughter, and the woodcarvers guild of Cottonwood AZ. He enjoyed having his grandchildren around him, for they were his pride and joy. He will truly be missed and never forgotten by who knew him for his and infectious personality, his mystical story telling and comical theatrics.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Georgia Mae Trestrail; his brothers, Richard (Bud) and Agnes Trestrail, Cyril Trestrail; sisters, Jean Flinn, Dororthy & Jack Marchbanks.
He is survived by his son: Timothy A. Trestrail & wife Karla; daughter; Christina A. & husband Charles R. Walker; four grandchildren, Michelle Martin, Patrick Walker, Alexander Walker, Kyle Trestrail; one great-granddaughter, Lillee Martin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry Flinn, Betty Trestrail, Patricia & Butch Finnell, Arlene & Robert Sandoval, Tony Blahnik and thirty-three nieces and nephews.
A Military Honor and Memorial Service will be held Jan. 30, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at the Veterans of Foriegn War #7400, 705 E. Aspen Street Cottonwood AZ. 86326 Followed by a potluck visitation until 2 P.M. at the VFW
