Joseph E. (Jaybird) Hubbs, age 81, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010, after a heroic battle with leukemia.
He was born on June 18, 1928, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Although born in Wisconsin, he resided in Arizona for over 68 years and considered it his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his "wonderful wife" Billie Ruth.
He is survived by sons Kenneth Hubbs and Steven Sebben and daughters E. Jean Post and Susan Oettings; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jaybird was a retired journeyman electrician, a member of IBEW Local Union 640 in Phoenix for 59 years. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E #499, Flagstaff for over 61 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, taking pictures, making people laugh at his jokes and crossword puzzles. You might say he was three across and six down.
Services will be held at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ on Friday, January 29, 2010. Friends and family will be received from 10-11 a.m. to with services at 11 a.m.
