DOERING, Willis Paul


The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Saturday, January 30, 2010 Willis P. Doering passed to his rest January 23, 2010 just short of his 87th birthday. Willis was born in Takoma Park, Maryland. He graduated as a physicist from Andrews University. He met his love, Clara Mae in Takoma Park where they married and had a son Roger. His latest employment was with the United States Geological Survey Isotope Geology Branch. He worked closely for another noted geologist, Irving Friedman, on various projects. His latest Helium isotope testing of well water with scientists attempting earthquake prediction. He and the labs were privileged to study the moon rocks to determine their makeup. Willis Retired in 1985 and enjoyed gardening and visiting scenic Arizona parks. His wife preceded him in death in 1993. He enjoyed being with Roger at Library Commission meeting and electronics service calls. A private burial was held Tuesday at Middle Verde Cemetery. A memorial service will be 2:00PM Friday, February 6, 2010 at the Cottonwood 7th Day Adventist Church, Mingus and Willard. The community is invited.
