Irvin (Bud)
Irvin (Bud) Powell, 73, died Tues., June 10, 2003. He was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Rural, TX and moved to Phoenix in 1966.
Mr. Powell had worked as a truck driver for over 40 years and was best known for his musical abilities. He performed with Bud Powell's Rhythm Ramblers. He was a singer, drummer and songwriter. He also enjoyed motorcycle racing in his earlier years. He was a member of the Nat'l Federation of Musicians, Teamsters Union, United Federation of Foresters, the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by two sons; Michael D. Powell of Mesa, and Irvin D. Powell, Jr. of PA., one daughter, Frances A. Sibert of Tonopah, AZ, one brother, Miles Owen Powell of Odessa, TX. 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and loving companion, Inis Huddleston.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 13, 2003 at 11am at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley, Phoenix. with visitation one hour prior to service. The family suggests memorials to Sun Health Hospice, 12740 N. Plaza Del Rio, Peoria, AZ 85381.
