SMSGT and Bronze Star recipient "Chuck" (Elmer Landon) Turnbow, 72, of Chino Valley, Ariz. passed away on Jan. 8, 2010.
Born in McCamey, Texas, to W.E. and Thelma Turnbow, Chuck moved to Arizona with his mother and sister in 1950. At age 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Air force and served his country for the next 22 years. Chuck was an avid golfer and past post commander of the American Legion Post 40 in Chino Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and twin great-grandsons. His wife of 22 years, Frances (Mitzi) Turnbow, passed away on Nov. 21, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and Mark; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law; a niece and nephew; and an aunt in Texas.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Sunrise Mountain Baptist Church, 8542 W. Deer Valley Road, followed at 2 p.m. by a Military Honors service and double (for both Mitzi and Chuck) inurnment at Resthaven Park Cemetery at 6290 West Northern Ave.
