MITCHELL, Walter Harold

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, January 21, 2010 Walter Harold Mitchell Jr., 72, of Chino Valley, Ariz., died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. Born Dec. 14, 1937, in Rock Island, Ill., he was the son of Walter Harold Mitchell Sr. and Helen (Kucsecska) Cook of Streator. He married Barbara Louise Baiett at the First Methodist Church in Streator on Oct. 10, 1959. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Mexico in October 2009. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his daughter Cory Lynn (Joel) Smith of Glendale, Ariz.; his sons, Walter Harold (Cristina) Mitchell III of San Diego, Calif., and Kelley Gray Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas. There are six grandchildren, Maren Alyce Smith, Dalton Scott Smith, Bryan Alan Sebring, Alex Mitchell, Jessica Elizabeth Mitchell and William Kelley Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell is also survived by his sister, Marcia (Harry) Redd of Collinsville, Ill.; brother Robert John Mitchell of Collinsville; niece Tina Michele Redd; and nephew Eric Lee Redd, both of Antioch, Ill. He was a 1955 graduate of Streator Township High School. Mr. Mitchell served in and retired after 21 years from the United States Air Force. He then worked 25 years for Arizona Public Service, retiring in 2008. A memorial service will be Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, in Chino Valley. The body will be cremated and the ashes will be interred in the Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Streator, Ill., at a later date. Condolences may be sent to P.O.
