LILJEGREN, Esther


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Saturday, April 12, 2003 Esther Liljegren, born in Moline, IL, 9-2-26, died 4-9-03 in Scottsdale after a 15mo. battle with cancer. She and Bill were married for over 56 years. Preceded in death by sister Dorothy and brother Melvin (Shirley) and survived by sister Evelyn (Carl) Eckberg and brother Harry, and children Sally (Randy) Thomas, John (Cindy) Liljegren, and Nancy (Tom) Nelson, grandchildren Jamie, Cody (Angela), Travis, Todd, Kyle, Peter, and Karna and many nieces and nephews. She was a secretary, later registrar, at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL, but her greatest service was as a pastor's wife where her love and many talents, especially in music, will be cherished by those who knew her. Her home and hospitality were open to all as Bill and Esther served Evangelical Covenant churches in Michigan, Connecticut, Illinois, and Arizona. A memorial service will be held on Tues., April 15 at 3:30pm at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix 85014-5656 or to the Valley Presbyterian Church. The family gratefully thanks our friends, our churches, our neighbors, the medical professionals, Hospice of the Valley, and our loved ones across the country for your love and care of Esther.
