Homer Yoywetewa, widely known Indian silversmith of Grand Canyon, was almost instantly killed last week in an automobile crash eight miles east of Ash Fork. An Indian companion and a woman hitch-hiker riding in the car, escaped with only slight injuries. The automobile was demolished. The body was taken to Yoywetewa's home at Keams Canyon, on the Indian reservation northeast of Flagstaff, for burial. The Indian silversmith who was 26 years old, is survived by a wife and small child living at his home on the reservation. The machine, driven by Yoywetewa, apparently struck a soft shoulder along the edge of the highway and skidded from the road. It apparently rolled over several times, throwing the occupants through the top of the automobile. The car was brought to the Flagstaff Motor company, where it had recently been purchased, but is a complete wreck, mechanics said. Coconino Sun.
