01/29/2010
Park Charles "Butch" Custer, 70, died Friday night, Jan. 15, 2010, at his home in Vernon following a short battle with cancer.
Butch, as he was affectionately known, was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa., to the late Park Austin and Dorothy Marie (Fisher) Custer.
Butch was so proud to be an American that following his high school graduation, he went and enlisted in the United States Navy serving four years during the Vietnam War era. Following his honorable discharge, Butch worked as a maintenance supervisor in the electronics industry. He has been a resident of Arizona the past 43 years and moved to Vernon from Phoenix in 1985.
In 2002, his sweet wife of 35 years, Mary Ann Custer passed away. Butch thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and was an expert wood worker. He also found beauty in the outdoors and enjoyed the peace and solace he felt while fishing throughout the state. This good man will be greatly missed my his many, many friends, but none will miss him more than his brother.
Butch is survived by his brother, Gary Custer (Sharen) of Lakeside; his fiancee, Marsha A. Mousaw of Vernon and Tucson.
