Alyce L. Heaps, of Sun Lakes, AZ. Passed away May 2, 2003. Born in Blanchester, Ohio on August 15, 1907. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Nora Ritchey and her brother John. Alyce is survived by her husband Kenneth of Sun Lakes, AZ. and her son David, daughter-in-law Sharon, and grand sons Scott and Matthew Heaps, all of Bellingham Washington. Also surviving are sister-in-law Doris Parrish of San Diego, cousin Marilyn Schrack of Indiana, and niece Susan Ritchey and nephew Joe Ritchey of Michigan. Alyce and Ken were married February 25, 1950, and lived in Flint, MI. where she was chief clerk in the cost department at a C Spark Plug Division of General Motors. Alyce volunteered at the Red Cross for 25 years and was named volunteer of the year in 1984. They moved to Sun Lakes in 1984, and Alyce loved to travel by car, ceramics, knitting, and she was an avid reader and enthusiastic supporter of the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Her friendly smile will be missed by all including the wonderful caregivers at Desert Cove Nursing Facility and the Hospice of Arizona. At her request no services will be held. Arrangements are through Valley of the Sun Mortuary in Chandler Arizona.
