Bob Ramsey, 72, died April 11, 2003 in Mesa.
Bob was born in Elkhart, Indiana. His family moved to Vincennes, Indiana, when he was very young. He received his education through high school there and also attended business college. After his schooling he went into the U.S. Navy where he served as a medic on the U.S.S. Des Moines for the full term. Bob married Shirley Shappard in 1949.
In 1954 they moved to Phoenix where he was employed as an accountant and business manager for the Arizona Baptist Convention. He retired in 1984 and moved to Show Low. Not happy with retirement and he loved to cook so he went to work at Pueblo Norte Nursing Home and the Pinetop-Lakeside Senior Center as a cook. He was one of those people who became a friend to everybody he met. Bob also loved music and movies. The family will always remember him for his love of magic and performing magic tricks. Most of all he loved his family.
Bob is survived by six sons, David L. (Joan) Ramsey of Saddlebrook, New Jersey, Robert W. Ramsey and Richard E. Ramsey, both of Tucson, Paul G. (Verena) Ramsey and Wade A. (Jean) Ramsey, both of Mesa, and Brian A. Ramsey of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Alma Cullison and Norma Stabinski; and niece, Marilyn Ramsey, all of Vincennes, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley in 1995.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Show Low. Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
