The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Marie Ricketts, 91, of Mesa and Scottsdale, Arizona, passed gently away April 10, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Ricketts. She is survived by their four children: Charles E. Ricketts of Texarkana, AR; Robert P. Ricketts of Mesa, AZ; Norma Kiper of Harbor City, CA; and Mary Martin of Scottsdale, AZ; and stepdaughter Barbara Beck of Evansville, IN. She had 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was born in Kempton, IN, June 28, 1911. She and Joe left their Indiana farm and moved the family to Mesa, Arizona to benefit Joe's health in December 1953, whereupon she began working at J.J. Newberry's in Mesa where she became the store's bookkeeper until retirement. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mesa. She moved to Scottsdale in 1999. Visitation: Tuesday, April 15th, 5-8 p.m. Newcomer Mortuary 6812 E. Thomas Rd., Scottsdale. Services: Wednesday, April 16th, at 10 am at Newcomer's.
