WALKER, Ray


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Ray Walker 86, of Yuma, AZ passed away at home on April 10, 2003. Ray retired from Arizona Public Service Co. in 1976 after 42 years of service. After graduating from Phoenix Union, he began as a laborer, advanced to become the Yuma Division Manager and then to State Division Manager in Phoenix. He was a member of various civic organizations, including Kiwanis, Yuma County Fairboard, Yuma and Sedona Chamber of Commerce, Yuma County Aeronautics Commission, Boys Scouts of America and the Yuma Proving Ground Civilian Advisory Committee. He was named Yuma County "Man of the Year 1960" He was a member of Paradise Valley Silver Trowel Lodge #29 for 65 Years, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of El Zaribah Shrine. His wife of 66 years, Altha Mae and their 3 children, Elaine (Harry) Venable, George (Nancy) Walker and Roberta Evans survive him. He has 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Red Rock Masonic Lodge #63, 135 Shrine Road, on airport hill, Sedona, Arizona, Thursday April 17th at 2 PM. Graveside services at the Sedona Community Cemetery are following. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Yuma, or El Zaribah Shrine Crippled Children Fund.
