The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, April 16, 2003 Larry Crabtree, 61, passed away on April 8, 2003, peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. At his side was his wife Colleen of 32yrs., RTA Hospice, and his family. Larry was born in Virgil, KS Aug 28, 1941. He attended schools in Virgil & Matfield, Green KS. He received a basketball scholarship to KU. He also played semi-pro baseball. Larry joined the US Air Force in 1963. He spent time in Texas & Wyoming. At the time of his death he was a member of American Legion #75 and the Deer Valley Eagles Aerie 3871. Larry loved his sports. He was one of the coaches for the Am. Legion in WY when his team won the Am Legion State Championship 1963. Larry is survived by his wife Colleen, 2 sons Jeff & Doug, 7 grandchildren, sister & brother-in-law (Sue & Kenny) & his SPECIAL buddy Anna Louise (Mom) Block his Mother-in-law, & Vonnie & Jinx his two 4-legged pals. He was preceded in death by his parents, & 3 brothers. He will be deeply missed by all that knew & loved him. A Memorial Service will be held at the Am. Legion #75 on Cave Creek & Peoria.
