The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, April 16, 2003 Mr. Loy F. Mah, United States Army Veteran, retired grocer and avid sportsman, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2003, age 79. Mr. Mah was born in May 1923 in Canton, China and immigrated to the United States in 1935. He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946 with a rank of Corporal in the Artillery Support unit during the World War II conflict in Central Europe. After he was discharged he returned to China and married Linda Ong. They returned to Phoenix, Arizona in 1949 and operated Empire Market and Sunland Market for 29 years and retired in 1985. Mr. Mah was preceded in death by his father George Chan, Mother Chan Si Tu and his youngest son Jerry Mah. Mr. Mah is survived by his wife Linda Mah; brother Jimmy Chan, wife Katy Chan and family. Brother Chan Yee On, wife Bik Ling and family; Sister Bik Toa husband Chan Sang Jeung and family; son John Mah and wife Laurie Mah; son Gary Mah and wife Donna Mah; grandchildren Daniel Mah, Brandon Mah, Brynja Mah and Audra Mah. Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2003 at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road, from 5pm-8pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 10:00 am also at A.
