James “Harc” Huckle died at the age of 88, at 8:45 a.m., on December 15, 2009. Services were held at the San Manuel Presbyterian Church on Monday, the Dec. 21, 2009, and interment was in Kearny, following the services at the church.
Harcourt is survived by his wife, Ivy Huckle, his eldest daughter Denise (Ron) Noseck, daughter Janis (John) Graham, and by his son, Gordon Huckle. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Harc was a long time resident of San Manuel, having worked for the mine here for most of his life. He was active in the church, the community theater group, senior citizens group, helped teach English as a second language at Pima Community College, and even wrote and published a book about the life of a local cowboy named Jo Curtis Flieger, entitled 'Dreams Come True For Cowboys, Too'.
