GORDON, DeVore (Flash)


DeVore (Flash) Gordon, age 77, passed away June 15, 2003 at home in Glendale, AZ. He was a resident of the Valley for 70 years. He was the owner of Hobby Lobby in Phoenix for 45 years. Both the Gordon and LeBeau Families started Camp Rainbow for children cancer survivors. DeVore was a Marine veteran of WWII serving on Iwo Jima in a medical unit with the 4th Division. He was a volunteer probation officer and part of the first ever Scared Straight Program. He volunteered for Camp Courage for burn survivors teaching crafts. He had the most volunteered hours at the Phoenix Children's Hospital and was a Lieutenant Governor of the Optimist Club. Survivors include his wife Harriet, son Barry, daughters, Sally Woodfill, Lynne Gordon, Debbie (Ronald) Meringer, Sherry Gordon and grandchildren, Josh and Sheri Gordon, Devon and Marissa Lewis, and Alex and Erika Meringer. Funeral services Wednesday, June 18th at 9:30 A.M. in Sinai Mortuary Chapel, 4538 N. 16th St in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory are requested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
