After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, he graduated from Bowling Green University, followed by medical school at Northwestern. A modern day Renaissance Man, he was a talented artist in many media, an avid outdoorsman, a conversant naturalist, and most of all an attentive husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered by all as one with a selfless, curious and engaged attitude toward life and others. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Caralee (Lee) Hughes of Prescott; his three children, David Hughes, Richard Hughes and Cindy Snavely; two step-children, John Felix and Melinda DeCiro: six grandchildren, Holly Rose, Brianna and Danielle Hughes and Julianne, Kimberly and Brandin DeCiro; daughters-in-law, Rhonda and Patrice and sons-in-law Gary Snavely and Nick DiCiro.
