Norman Devening, 100, Scottsdale, AZ, went home to be with our Lord on May 3, 2003.
Norman was born on September 1, 1902 in Shelby County Indiana. He was the owner of Devening Concrete Products until his retirement in 1964. He retired to Bradenton, Florida and lived there until he moved to Scottsdale to live with his daughter in December 2001.
He was an active member of Covenant Community Church in Scottsdale. He was also a 75-year member of the Masonic Lodge. A recent highlight in his life was throwing out the first pitch at the Diamondbacks/Dodgers game the day after he celebrated his 100th birthday.
Norman is survived by his two daughters Patricia Montgomery of Scottsdale, and Janice Spicer of Largo, Florida, 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A service of celebration honoring him will be held Wednesday, May 7th at 5:30 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Christian Academy Auditorium, on Sutton Drive East of Scottsdale Rd. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Covenant Community Church Building Fund, 13951 North Scottsdale Road, Suite 116, Scottsdale, 85254, or to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, 85014.
