Services for Mrs. Lola M. Shumway, 75, a church leader and artist, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 18th Street and Brill.
Mrs. Shumway, 902 E. Coronado, died Wednesday, September 20, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. She had been president of the Stake Relief Society and Primary and a choir leader of the First Ward in the 1940s and 1950s. She had won awards with her paintings. From 1913 to 1916 Mrs. Shumway taught in Thatcher and was a high school teacher there from 1918 to 1920.
Born in Mexico, she had resided in Arizona since 1892. She moved to Phoenix 31 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Ernest; two sons, E. Widsoe Shumway of Phoenix, Dr. Ord L. Shumway of Hemet, California; a daughter, Mrs. Gene Prock of Phoenix; a sister, Mrs. Joseph McClellan of Thatcher; three brothers, Martin Mortensen of Tempe, Leo Mortensen of Hyrum, Utah, and Hyrum Mortensen of Salt Lake City; and 12 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 10 p.m. today in A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams and at the Ward an hour before services tomorrow. Entombment will be in Memory Lawn Mausoleum.
