SWENNING, Michael R.


Rosary for Michael R. Swenning, 22, will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow in Paradise Chapel, 3934 E. Indian School. Mass of Requiem will be said at 8 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4510 N. 24th St. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Mr. Swenning, 4123 N. 21st St., was employed in the management training program for Sear Roebuck Co. and was a student at Arizona State University. He died Sunday, August 27, 1967, en route to Doctors Hospital. He was graduated in 1963 from Scottsdale High School where he was a member three years of the Letterman Club. He enlisted in the Marines in 1963 and served in Vietnam where he received the Navy Commendation Medal and was authorized to wear the "V" for valor. He had been out of the Marines a year. He moved to Phoenix in 1945 from his native Sheldon, Iowa. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Swenning; five sisters, Tracy, Mary and Megan Swenning, all of Phoenix, Shannon and Kelli Swenning, both of San Diego; and grandparents, L. A. Houlihan and Mrs. Stella Swenning, both of Phoenix. Published in The Arizona Republic August 29, 1967
