The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, April 18, 2003 John R. Griffith, 83, died April 16, 2003 in Mesa, Arizona. Mr. Griffith was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 27, 1919, to Thomas and Freda Griffith. He served in the South Pacific during WWII as a member of the 1st Marine Divison. He is survived by his wife, Alberta, son John D. Griffith, daughter Linda Anthony, brother Thomas Griffith, sisters, Margarite Cooper, Freda McFadden, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, April 19 from 9:30-10:30 at Bunker's University Chapel, 3529 E. University Drive, Mesa, with a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery at 11am. Courtesy of Pat Wilson.
