Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, August 27, 1948 A PIONEER DIES FINAL RITES FRIDAY FOR MRS JULIA MASON WHO BROKE HIP IN FALL Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock in the First Baptist church here for Mrs Julia Mason. Rev. George King will be in charge. Mrs Mason, age 79, passed away at Community Hospital at 6:25 Tuesday morning. She was admitted to the hospital Saturday noon after a fall in the yard of her home on Jefferson street resulted in a broken hip. CAME HERE IN 1919 Born December 18, 1868, near Ashville, North Carolina, Mrs Mason moved to this state in 1919 and made her home in the Verde Valley five years before moving to Prescott. In October of last year she moved to Wickenburg because of the lower altitude. Mrs Mason had been in poor health since suffering a bad fall two years ago. SURVIVORS She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur N. Mason and is survived by a daughter, Gladys Mason of Wickenburg and two sons, Forrest, also of Wickenburg, and Gordon of Tampa, Fla. Burial will be in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
