GOMEZ,
Antonio N.
Antonio N. Gomez, 66, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2003.
He was born on April 6, 1937, in Brawley, California, and raised in Sonora/Ray, Arizona, where he attended and graduated from Ray High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1962 and, one year later, was married to the lady of his dreams, Isabel.
Antonio, also known as Tony, Fido, or Padrino/Compadre, lived a wonderful and joyous Iife! His primary occupation was that of a miner/supervisor for the Kennecott Mining Company. He was a member in good standing with his local church, an active member of the Kearny Elk's Organization, a member of the Kearny Fire Department Volunteer Squad, an enthusiastic participant of the local bowling team, and a member of El Club Sonorense.
Antonio also served the school community of Kearny as the Ray Band Booster President, helping to provide funding for numerous scholarships for young adult musicians during his involvement. To his death, nearly two decades later, Antonio was faithful in his attendance and support of the high school music scene, especially to those students and band programs close to his heart.
Perhaps what family and friends will remember most about Antonio throughout the years is the manner in which he served as a provider to all, as well as a role model parent and husband for a family that meant the world to him. Dad, be at peace in a far better place, because, now, you really are in God's country. Until we meet again...
Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Isabel, and his children, Donna Ann and Jon Anthony, as well as his siblings. Jesse Hill, Frank Gomez, and Mary Brinkman.
Visitation will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary May 8, 2003 at 5:00 PM Rosary at 6:30 PM. Services will be Friday, May 9, 2003 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel at 10:00 AM.
