Edward Herman Koester died May 10, 2008, at Mountain View Manor in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Cissna Park, Ill., the son of Johann and Carolina (Seggebruch) Koester. Edward was 84 years old.
Edward married the love of his life, Phyllis Arlene Althaus, on Aug. 19, 1944. He enjoyed woodworking and camping, and was a member of both Shepherd of the Hills and St. Luke Lutheran churches. Edward was most proud of his family and he will be missed dearly.
Edward is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; son Mark (Carma) Koester of Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren David, Michael and Glenn;
great-grandchildren Zachary, Ryan, Thomas, Amanda and Houston; sister Elenore Eggert; and son-in-law Thomas Hughes.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Constance Hughes; grandson Scott; brothers, John and Albert Koester; and sisters Amanda Schleef, Esther Minderman and Marie Koester.
A visitation/viewing will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 807 North Stapely Drive, Mesa, Ariz., followed by a celebration of Edward’s life at 10 a.m. The final committal will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
