Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 14, 2008 Robert Lawrence Nelson, 81, died quietly of natural causes on April 11, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. Born on Aug. 27, 1926, in Brookline, Mass., he served in the Navy during WWII and graduated from Utah State University in 1950. He was a forester in the U.S. and also an international forestry consultant all of his life. Bob Nelson was a member of the Society of American Foresters for 58 years. He is survived by his children, Sr. Mary Jo Nelson, OLVM, of Indiana; Alodie Didier (Don) and Genevieve Nelson of Oregon; Michael Nelson (Tanis) of California; and Elisa Logan (Jason) of the United Kingdom; his brothers, Frank Nelson of Arizona and Larry Nelson of California; his grandchildren, Lauren Didier, Larry Didier, Dorian Barnhart, Joanna Trotter, Tara Uziel and Lindsey Nelson; his great-grandchildren, Sasha Barnhart, Micah and Scarlett Uziel; his dear companion Mary Allen; and his beloved friends. His family acknowledges with him that “Old foresters never die, they just manage those forests in the sky.” A Memorial Mass for Bob Nelson was celebrated in Orange, Calif., on April 22, 2008.
