Esther Stanford Knell. Services will be held Saturday in Cedar City, Utah in memory of Esther Stanford Knell's passing during her 100th year of service to her Heavenly Father and her family.
She was born 26 September 1903 in Carey, Blaine, Idaho and died 25 November, 2002 in Parowan, Utah, where she had lived this past year. She was a former resident of Cedar City, Utah and Phoenix and Mesa, Arizona.
In 1924, Esther, a graduate of the LDS Business College, was working in Salt Lake City and was called to serve a mission in Australia where
she met her husband-to-be, Rulon Knell. Throughout their life, they were loving companions in their business, family, social and church activities, developing strong accomplishments in each. Esther was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions there; among them, a missionary, president and teacher in Primary, Stake Relief Society Stake Board, in Phoenix, a stake counselor in Cedar City in Relief Society, Arizona Temple worker, Former Matron of the Arizona Temple, serving with her husband,
President Rulon Knell, until his passing.
Esther was preceded in passing by her parents, Thomas Charles Stanford and Ida Priscilla Ivie Stanford, first husband Rulon Knell, second husband Dewey Elder; also grandsons: Lewis Kelly Ence and Cameran Alex Wells; brothers, Charles and Frank Stanford; and sister, Roka McGlochlin. She is survived by her three daughters, Marjorie (Alex) Robinson, Beverly (Mack) Jones of Mesa, Arizona and Gayle (Keith) Ence of Cedar City, Utah. She has 16 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren.
She has lived a wonderful long life and set a beautiful example of dedication, service and hard work for all of those privileged to know her. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 30th at the Southern Utah Mortuary Chapel in Cedar City, Utah. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. She will be buried at the Cedar City Cemetery.
