Tony Minniti, 70, of Mesa, AZ and Delavan, WI passed away on April 14, 2003 after a very short but intense & courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born December 23, 1932 in Villa Park, Illinois, to the proud parents Antonio Minniti and Catarina Barbaro Minniti. His parents were immigrants from Reggio, Calabria, Italy. He graduated from York High School, in Villa Park, IL in 1950.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War and was stationed in French Morocco. He worked at BorgWarner as a tool and die maker Group Leader for 45 years. Upon retirement in 1995 he became an official Arizona snowbird.
He was an avid sailor and tennis player. He is preceded in death by; his mother, Caterina Barbaro-Minniti, father, Antonio Minniti, his sisters Angelina and Florence Minniti.
He gave his family cherished memories of humor and unconditional love. He was an excellent handyman and helped his family and the Lake Delevan Yacht Club.
Survivors include his siblings; Marguerita Minniti, Joanna Marquez, Ann Marotta, John Minniti and Mary Grossi; his daughters and son-in-laws; Kris & Mike Ybarra, Karen & Rich Foote and Terry & Chuck Wright, and eight grandchildren (Samantha, Jenna, Taylor & Hayden Ybarra; McKenna & Rachel Foote; Bryan & Danielle Wright). Also survived is his extended family; sailors from Delavan Yacht Club in Delavan, WI and tennis players from Venture Out Retirement Community in Mesa, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lake Delavan Sailing School, P.O. Box 482 Delavan, WI 53115 .
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mountain View Mortuary in Mesa, AZ.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ.
