Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, April 15, 1949 MATHEW CASEY, 76, IS SUMMONED HERE Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from St. Anthony's church for Mathew Casey, age 76, who passed away last Friday night in his trailer here, a short time after being released from the Veteran's Hospital at Whipple. Mr Casey, it is said, left the hospital against the advice of the medical authorities there. A native of Ireland, he had lived in this country most of his life and came to Arizona at an early age. In recent years he lived in Morristown. He was engaged in mining and prospecting. He was a veteran of World War I, in which he served as a bugler with the 27th Engineers. The local American Legion post conducted military rites at the grave in Wickenburg cemetery. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Mary E. Baxter of Portland, Ore., who arrived in Wickenburg Wednesday. Three grandchildren also survive.
