Herman Lee "Mac" McFarlin, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Kivel Care Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Franklin, Kentucky on December 29, 1924 to John W. McFarlin and Polly Cherry. He was one of two sons.
His brother Robert McFarlin preceded him in death, as did his mother and father. Herman married Barbara Holder on March 16, 1946 and together they had eight children.
Mr. McFarlin served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was proud of his military service and the men he served with. He was a singer and musician who enjoyed also painting portraits and landscapes.
He is survived by his children and their spouses; four daughters, Sandy and Al Burghard of California, Sue Evans of Showlow, AZ, Barbara Melton of Show low, AZ and Jenny McFarlin of California; and four sons; John McFarlin of Showlow, AZ, Tim and Sandy McFarlin of Scottsdale, AZ, Bob and Yvonne McFarlin of Chandler, AZ, and Steve and Rhonda McFarlin of Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Abel Funeral Services, 1627 N. 51st AVe., Phoenix, AZ.
Visitation from 4PM - 7PM, Tuesday, 4/22/2003. Graveside services at The National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ, Wednesday at 1PM, 4/23/2003 with full military honors.
