The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/12/2002 Esther Danford, 77, died Dec. 8, 2002 in Globe. Esther was born and raised in Cibecue and lived there all of her life. She was a member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe and was raised in the traditional ways. She loved her Apache culture and was a basket maker and did a lot of beautiful bead work. Besides raising her own sons, she also raised two of her grandsons, Arnold Jr. and Aaron. She attended the Miracle Pentecostal Church in Cibecue. Esther is survived by two sons, LeRoy Danford and Arnold Danford, Sr., both of Cibecue; six grandchildren, Wallace, Arnold Jr., Aaron, Adam, Lucia and Winiford Danford; three adopted grandchildren, Rebecca Danford, Alroy Quay and Valita Enriquez; and three great-grandchildren, Charmaine, Arnoldo and Gerrie Danford. A wake will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at her residence in Lower Cibecue. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Cottonwood Gym in Cibecue with burial in the family plot in Lower Cibecue. Owens Mortuary of Show Low is handling the arrangements.
