Sandra Lee Cobb (DeLorme), born Oct. 27, 1938, in Ferndale, Mich., to William and Marcella, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9 in Wickenburg after a five-year battle with leukemia.
She is survived by her husband Michael, brothers Howard and William, sons Bret and Gil, stepdaughter Michelle, daughter-in-law Patrice, and grandchildren Gil, Joshua and Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son Greg.
Sandi was an English major and a graduate of the Powell School of Modeling in Detroit, where she competed in the Miss Michigan pageant.
After moving to Northern Michigan, Sandi was a long-term employee as a private secretary to the chairman of the board of a Fortune 500 company, which allowed her to fulfill her lifelong dream of having her own farm where she raised show Collies and horses.
In 1984, Sandi and Mike relocated to Arizona and later founded KAR Trailers Sales and Service, which grew to be Arizona’s largest provider of trailers to the horse industry.
She was an artist, baker, dressmaker, mother-to-all and a caring lover of all animals.
It was Sandi and Mike’s dream to be able to retire in Wickenburg. They were able to achieve this five years ago. Her stay here was too short.
Sandi touched the hearts and lives of everyone with whom she came in contact and she will be truly missed.
A celebration of Sandi’s life will be held Monday (Feb. 22) at 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 180 N. Adams Street in Wickenburg.
In lieu of flowers, there is a trust account set up in Sandi’s name at the National Bank of Arizona in Wickenburg, for her continuing love of God’s creatures. The family will match funds donated for the benefit of the Best Friend’s Sanctuary, Wickenburg Humane Society and the Arizona Collie Rescue.
Arrangements are by David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home in Wickenburg.
