BARRERA, Roberto Nunez

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 15, 1993. Buckeye Man Killed In Head-on Collision A head-on collision with a semi tractor trailer truck near Wittmann proved fatal to a Buckeye man last week. Witnesses reported that the victim's pickup truck had malvunctioning headlights, noting they were flashing on and off due to a possible short or other problem. According to an Arizona DPS report, Roberto Nunez Barrera, 30, was westbound at mile marker 125.5 on U. S. 60 93/89 at about 8:30 p.m. last Wednesday night. His 1966 GMC pickup truck veered to the left, passing the center dividing line and into the opposing lane. Barrera's truck hit an oncoming 1991 Kenworth truck and trailer driven by Jackie May of Kaufman, Texas. The pickup truck spun off and burst into flames, killing Barrera. He was announced dead at the scene with massive head injuries and burns. After the collision, the Kenworth crossed the highway, stopping near the Santa Fe train tracks on the other side of the road, witnesses reported. May was evacuated by air to Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix with minor injuries and was treated and released. Investigators noted wonder in the fact that May's semi truck did not roll after the impact while on its way off the highway. DPS Officers said Barrera's family has been notified of the fatality.
